Newfound Science Pub | Mosses: Living Fossils of the Plant World
Dinner and drinks available from 5pm. Program begins at 6pm.
Small but mighty, mosses play crucial roles in some of our most fascinating habitats. From colonizing bare rock and burned landscapes to nurturing the seedlings of trees and wildflowers, these ancient plants are pioneers and protectors of biodiversity. Beyond their ecological importance, mosses are also strikingly beautiful when you take a closer look.
Join us for an evening with Jeff Holcombe, botanist, educator, photographer, and former Seymour Loomis Faculty Chair in Science at the Loomis Chaffee School, as he introduces us to the extraordinary world of mosses. Learn how these living fossils shape ecosystems, the habitats they depend on, and the challenges they face in a changing world.
