Moira Smiley + Rasa String Quartet: ROOTS TO SKY
Moira Smiley + Rasa String Quartet: ROOTS TO SKY
Please join Concerts On The Hill on Saturday, April 11 at 4pm, presenting Singer/composer Moira Smiley and Rasa String Quartet in a program that explores the space where classical and folk traditions intersect and influence one another.
Rooted in themes of connection - both visible and hidden - the program explores the ways we remain intertwined, like the underground rhizome networks that nourish life from beneath the surface. Works by Moira Smiley, Caroline Shaw, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Sato Matsui will be performed both collaboratively and individually. Smiley’s striking Rhizome Project is the velvet ferocity of voices and strings, very old folk songs and their power to remind us of our shared “sugar-in-the-ground” - an unsentimental, underground connectivity that defies a divisive era.
If you are one who loves folk music, chamber music, roots music, beautiful songs performed authentically and exceptionally well, this show is for you!
