In Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of New Hampshire's Constitution

In Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of New Hampshire's Constitution

On January 5, 2026, New Hampshire will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of its first constitution. Our original constitution, which was the first among the thirteen colonies, was implemented on January 5, 1776, six months before the Declaration of Independence.

The American Independence Museum in Exeter is hosting a celebration of the 250th anniversary at the Old Town Hall in Exeter. The celebration will feature a viewing of the original document, courtesy of the State Archives, and a presentation of the history and development of our State Constitution by Judge Will Delker and Professor Lawrence Friedman.

The event, sponsored by the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society, is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
