Tours offered at 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, and 2 PM

As winter fades and spring begins, come gather at the historic homes of Strawbery Banke. This 90-minute guided tour invites you to join us in the heart of our homes, where families gathered and grew together over centuries of Portsmouth’s Puddle Dock history.

This tour highlights four historic homes, each offering a unique glimpse into Portsmouth’s past:

* Goodwin Mansion: Step into the home of Ichabod and Sarah Goodwin in 1870 and learn how this elegant home reflected the lifestyle of a wealthy Portsmouth family during a time of social and industrial change.

* Shapiro House: Step into the 1919 home of Jewish immigrants Sarah and Abraham Shapiro, where they built a new life in Portsmouth. Explore how their kitchen and home reflect their resilience, adaptation, and role in the city's growing immigrant community.

* Abbott House & Store: Visit the Abbott family’s house and store, where Bertha Abbot, a widow, welcomed neighbors with the help of local high schooler Leslie Clough during World War II. The corner store was a focal point for the community, offering a warm place for conversation and connection during a time of rationing and uncertainty.

* Wheelwright House: Step into the kitchen of an 18th-century home, where cooking was done on an open hearth. Learn how early Portsmouth residents relied on their kitchens to prepare meals, preserve food, and keep their families nourished through the seasons.

Members $20; Nonmembers $25.
