Amare Cantare Presents “Ritual” at Three Spring Concerts April 1, 10 and 12: Choral concert offers connection and meaning
The Seacoast chamber chorus Amare Cantare will perform its spring concert series, “Ritual: A Choral Concert of Connection and Meaning,” on Wednesday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Dover, NH; Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Exeter, NH; and Sunday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. in Portsmouth, NH.
The concert program explores the many ways people across cultures and centuries use shared practices—sacred and secular—to mark time, build community and create meaning. Music and texts from four continents and hundreds of years reflect Amare Cantare’s enduring a cappella tradition while inviting listeners into moments of reflection and connection.
“As we have been rehearsing in the heart of this true New England winter, the singers of Amare Cantare are finding warmth and purpose in music that asks timeless questions about connection, meaning and belonging,” said Music Director, Dr. Kyle Nielsen. “We are excited to share the results of this work with our audiences at our three April concerts.”
Since 1977, Amare Cantare’s auditioned members from across the Seacoast have performed masterworks and choral music from six centuries. They have also produced several digital albums of their performances.
“Ritual: A Choral Concert of Connection and Meaning,” will be performed April 1 at First Parish Church, 218 Central Avenue in Dover; April 10 at Christ Church, 43 Pine Street in Exeter, NH; and April 12 at Middle Street Baptist Church, 18 Court Street in Portsmouth.
