Rallies in support of the Confederate flag are ongoing across the United States, two months after the church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, sparked nationwide calls to remove the flag from the statehouse grounds and other public places.
The Southern Poverty Law Center has been tracking these rallies and found tens of thousands of people have joined nearly 180 pro-flag events since mid-June. Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson is joined by Heidi Beirich, the Southern Poverty Law Center’s intelligence project director, to discuss the Confederate flag backlash across the nation.
