Former Senator Defends Iran Deal

The former U.S. Senator from Maine is voicing his support for the President's proposed deal with Iran.
The former U.S. Senator from Maine is voicing his support for the President's proposed deal with Iran.

George Mitchell represented Maine as a U.S. Senator for 15 years. He also served presidents as a special envoy to Northern Ireland and the Middle East, so he knows a thing or two about tough negotiations.

He’s backing President Obama on the deal to restrict Iran’s ability to produce a nuclear weapon, saying there are two ways to prevent that from happening, through negotiation or by war: “It is plain common sense to try negotiation first.”
