North Carolina is no stranger to hurricanes. In the past century, storms have killed dozens of people and caused tens of billions of dollars in damage. But coastal residents are resilient, and more people keep moving to places like the Outer Banks, Morehead City and the southern beaches.
That growth is occurring at the same time that scientists predict there will be more frequent and stronger storms along the Eastern seaboard. With the hurricane season now officially underway, Dave DeWitt from Here & Now contributor WUNC looks at how stronger, more frequent storms could change the dynamics of life on the coast.
