President Obama is expected to sign the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act after it was approved by the Senate yesterday.
The act expands mental heath care programs at the Veterans Administration and requires annual reviews of its suicide prevention and mental health efforts.
But critics say the legislation may be too little too late. That’s because the bill is designed to help troops who ask for help. For many, there’s still the stigma of admitting to mental health care problems.
