The State Democratic Party Takes Stock of Losses & Looks Ahead

For the first time in fourteen years, New Hampshire Democrats lost the governorship to Republicans, who also held onto the legislature.  These trends are playing out at statehouses around the country, with Democrats now controlling the smallest number of legislatures, ever.

  • Bette Lasky - Democratic Senator from Nashua. She has also served on the Nashua City Planning Board.
  • Steve Marchand -  Former Mayor of Portsmouth and Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate. He also served on the Portsmouth City Council.
  • Gene Martin -  Treasurer for the N.H. Young Democrats. He is also executive director of the N.H. Legislative Campaign Committee and worked in the N.H. State House as the Senate Minority Caucus Director.
  • Donna Soucy -  Democratic Senator from Manchester. She also served in the N.H. House and was an Alderman and school board member in Manchester.
