Full Senate Votes to Legalize Casino Gambling in New Hampshire

FILE

A bill seeking to open two casinos in New Hampshire passed the full Senate Thursday 13 votes to 10.

Under the measure, 5,000 slot machines and 240 table games would be allowed across both locations. But the bill does not say where those casinos would be located.

A similar proposal has been introduced in the Senate several times but has always fallen flat. It now heads to the House.

The state Lottery Commission estimates that two new casinos would bring in more than $194 million dollars in the first full year of operation, which is projected to be in 2021.

Another bill expected to go in front of the full Senate in the coming weeks seeks to legalize the electronic bingo game - Keno.
