Hemingway To Seek GOP Chair

Andrew Hemingway

A conservative activist who was the N.H. director of Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign is running to be chairman of the state republican party.

Andrew Hemingway, a political consultant from Bristol, says the GOP needs to sharpen its message and better use technology if it wants to win future elections. Hemingway is a vice chairman of the NH young republicans and has strong ties to the Tea party movement.

"When we are successful we are run by the grassroots, we are listening to the base, we are empowered by the base. Right now, the reason why we are losing elections is that we are being run by the elite, at the very top, with party bosses forcing candidates down our throats, and that’s why I am running, because there needs to be a change."

The only other announced candidate for GOP chairman is Jennifer Horn, of Nashua. Horn is a former Congressional candidate. She has the backing of U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Congressmen Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass, and several former party chairmen. Republicans will elect their new leader on January 26th.
