Officials say the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge replacement project is on schedule to open by September 2017.
The Portsmouth Herald reports that project officials provided the update to residents at a workshop Tuesday night.
Construction started on the bridge connecting New Hampshire and Maine last November and officials have logged more than 100,000 working hours.
The replacement will have a wider roadway that will allow bicycle travel over the bridge. Officials say the height from the river and length of the lift span have both been increased to help with the bridge's functionality.
The dismantling of the current bridge is expected to begin in November 2016.
The bridge spans the Piscataqua River between Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Kittery, Maine.
