Commission Aims To Lower N.H.'s Workers' Compensation Medical Costs

A new state commission has been charged with finding ways to reduce workers compensation medical costs in New Hampshire.

Governor Maggie Hassan established the commission through an executive order on Thursday.

“New Hampshire has very high workers compensation costs overall, but we’re finding that most of that high cost resides in the actual cost of the medical care.”

A recent study found New Hampshire is the 9th most expensive state for workers compensation coverage.

Insurance department Commissioner Roger Sevigny will chair the group, which will include representatives from business, health care and labor.

The commission has a December first deadline to produce a final report that is expected to include recommendations for reforming the state’s workers compensation system.
