Flood Watches Issued For Parts of N.H., Maine, Vermont

The National Weather Service is issuing flood watches in parts of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont as a tropical storm bears down on New England.

Forecasters are warning of heavy rain Friday night and Saturday across southern Vermont, the southern half of New Hampshire, and western and coastal Maine.

The forecast calls for 2 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, from the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea.

The winds shouldn't be strong enough to cause major problems but the heavy rain could cause rivers and streams to rise, and cause flooding in low-lying areas.
