Set in England’s swinging sixties, this uproarious farce follows the mixed fortunes of failed musician Francis Henshall. Down on his luck and forever hungry, Francis suddenly finds himself employed by two bosses—who can’t know about each other. One is a woman disguised as her recently deceased infamous criminal brother while attempting to extort her dead brother’s fiancée’s dad. The other boss is her brother’s murderer, aka her boyfriend, who is hiding from the police. Simple right?"

The Hampton Beach Comedy Festival will return for its 15th year on August 12-17, with 36 different comedians over six nights. The outdoor event takes place at Post 8, the back patio of McGuirk's Ocean View, 95 Ocean Boulevard, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

Showtime is 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are $20, available at HamptonBeachComedy.com. If space is available, tickets will also be sold for $25 at the door (cash only) on show nights. The patio will open for dinner at 6 p.m.

This is a 21-plus event.

Produced by Scamps Comedy Productions, the six-night Festival will feature different hosts and at least six comedians every night. This year's lineup includes new faces and old favorites, including Tony V., Paul D'Angelo, Karen Morgan, Paul Nardizzi, Kelly MacFarland, Will Noonan, Carolyn Plummer, Dave Rattigan, Brian Glowacki, Mitch Stinson, Mike Donovan, Jeff Koen and more.

Lineups are posted on the Hampton Beach Comedy Festival Website in late July, and are tentative. Because the shows are outdoors, the festival is weather dependent.

This is an outdoor event. In event of bad weather, show may be rained out. Six nights of outdoor shows featuring some of the funniest people in New England, including unbilled surprise guests, with new lineups each night and at least six comedians performing on each show.

The NH Furniture Masters Prison Outreach Program was founded in 1999 and educates select residents on the art of fine furniture making. We instruct three programs which take place at the NH State Prison for Men, the Maine State Prison and the NH Correctional Facility for Women.

Each program is distinctive, but they all bring Furniture Masters behind prison walls to teach valuable woodworking skills. Participants are spending their time productively, not only learning a valuable skill that can be executed upon their release but also building self-confidence and a sense of self-worth.

Our Prison Outreach Program exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to explore the impact this program has on the lives and livelihoods of those incarcerated. Many pieces in the show are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the maker and our organization.

Opening Reception: Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, June 27 from 5-7pm. Tour the exhibition and learn more about our Prison Outreach Programs. This year’s Opening Reception coincides with Concord’s Annual Market Days Festival.

This summer camp at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover is designed as an introductory course for kids (ages 8–10) to learn how 3D objects are printed from the ground up using free and accessible software. Each camper will bring home a simplified 3D printed object that they design themselves, as well as try hands-on art and science activities to further explore 3D objects, melting, and matter. Each day starts with playtime in the award-winning museum exhibits. Weather permitting, campers will enjoy outdoor playtime in the park. Campers are asked to pack a water bottle and snack. Cost: $170 (Members $155). Pre-registration and pre-payment required. Limited to 12 children. No refunds unless we can fill your spot.

THROUGH LINE celebrates basic mark-making as a foundation for the remarkable. Each of the six artists on view explores line through the lens of their distinct practices and mediums, ranging from marker to string, chalk, and even dirt! Together, they apply their shared interest in using lines as the basis for their work to boldly illustrate how understated, rudimentary marks can be explored more deeply. Collectively, the artworks on view act as tributes to the mark, celebrating the multitude of ways lines can be made, manipulated, and made monumental. In dialogue with one another, thematic commonalities or through lines between the works emerge and bring the exhibition into focus.

The featured artists shake up flat presentations of line, most breaking the plane entirely to render gesture and form in physical space. While their mediums are vast and divergent, each artist enters the conversation through painstakingly repetitious, modest, and slow gestures. They amass into vibrant works that arrest the viewer just as quickly as they entice them to slow down and look more closely. Through drawing (on and off the wall) digital media, sculpture, and installation, THROUGH LINE reminds us that simple lines are the basis of what can truly shape anything.

Society of 23’s Conservatory
January 2 – March 7, 2025

Society of 23’s Conservatory is an immersive, site-specific installation that combines photography, video, and sculpture in a multisensory experience. Jeffrey Augustine Songco captures the look and feel of a conservatory meets greenhouse during the sun-drenched days of summer, as he invites visitors to explore themes such as friendship, perfection, non-native, and exoticism. The greenhouse becomes a backdrop to Songco's camp exploration of a complicated relationship between his identity as an American of Filipino ethnicity and the colonial American behavior of conspicuously collecting “exotic” plants during the US rule over the Philippines from 1898-1946. Through the scope of florals and bouquet arrangements, Songco "plants" visual clues and non-verbal messages throughout the space, inviting viewers to reflect on their own personal and cultural origin stories and consider the constructs we create and dismantle for ourselves.

For the last fifteen years, Songco has continued to make artwork based on the Society of 23 — a fictional brotherhood of 23 mysterious gentlemen all portrayed by the artist himself. His artwork examines the construction of his personal identities and their relationships to the actual society in which he exists.

Holderness, NH – Squam Lakes Natural Science Center celebrates the start of the 2025 public trail season on opening day, Thursday, May 1. Regular hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last trail admission at 3:30 p.m.)

For nearly 60 years, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has been a favorite New England family destination, bringing joy, connection, wonder, and discovery to generations of visitors through live animal exhibits, natural science education programs, guided Squam Lake Cruises and the vibrant charm of Kirkwood Gardens. The Science Center is Certified Sensory Inclusive by KultureCity. The 3/4 mile live animal exhibit trail features coyote, fisher, red fox, bobcat, black bear, mountain lion, river otters, white-tailed deer, various owls and raptors, and more. Plan at least two and a half hours to walk the animal exhibit trail, which meanders through open meadows, mature forests, and marsh boardwalks on a packed gravel path.

Trail rates for 2025 are $28 for adults; $26 for seniors (age 65+); $22 for youth (ages 3-15); free for children 2 and under and Science Center members.
