This Week's Program:
The SLA is hosting a guided hike at Castle in the Clouds. Get excited for this sunset hike where we will be taking an evening romp up Mt. Roberts! Come join LRCC guide Jenna for a 2.5 mile ascent to the summit of Mt. Roberts with a stop at the top, and then part of the way back down before we settle at a site along the trail with a picturesque, west-facing vista to appreciate what will hopefully be a gorgeous sunset over the Lakes Region, after which we will don our headlamps and make our way back to the parking lot. Be prepared for a strenuous hike as this trip will cover a distance of about 5 miles round trip, and has an elevation gain of 1,362’. Hiking trails at Castle in the Clouds are on lands owned and maintained through the continuing conservation and stewardship efforts of the Lakes Region Conservation Trust.

What to Bring: Be sure to have plenty of water and bring warm layers for the evening temperatures! Bring a headlamp and/or flashlight for the final descent after sunset. Something to eat at the summit and something to sit on (blanket, sit pad) as we watch the sunset are some other recommended items. Sturdy footwear for this strenuous hike is also recommended.

Audience: For those with hiking experience, capable of strenuous hikes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This Week's LRCC Guide:
Hi I'm Jenna! I love to play outside, and I love New Hampshire! I've studied Agriculture and Forestry at Clemson University in South Carolina and here at UNH. I grew up in Maryland and moved here to be a ski patroller a few years ago. I like snowboarding, farming, cooking, and reading (Coelho and Alcott!!).

SLA's Adventure Ecology Trips:
Throughout the year, the Squam Lakes Association offers free programs open to the public on a variety of nature and conservation related topics. The Adventure Ecology programs are presented by the Lakes Region Conservation Corps members who perform important conservation work in support of the Association's mission.
