Myrtle Street Klezmer!

Myrtle Street Klezmer!

KEENE, NH: Myrtle Street Klezmer is a Western Mass based ensemble performing an ecstatic exploration into the past, present, and future of klezmer – the traditional celebratory music of the Ashkenazi Jews.

Myrtle Street Klezmer's high-energy music draws on Balkan, Greek, Arabic, Rock, and Jazz music, in addition to favorites from the classic and contemporary Klezmer repertoire. We work in the tradition of the old-world klezmer musicians, singing in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Ladino, and teaching audiences about the background and meaning of the music and the tradition.

Since 2021, we've been connecting with audiences through performances, workshops, and presentations. Our core members include Jason Ditzian (bandleader, clarinet), Myk Freedman (guitar), Jesse Olsen Bay (vocals, bass, bouzouki, percussion), Bea Carlson (vocals, accordion), Doug Plavin (percussion) and Dan Baker (tuba, trumpet, banjo).

Funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.

Also funded in part by the folks of Congregation Ahavas Achim!

Doors are at 7pm and music will start at 8! Seating is first come first served and the show is all ages.
