Loons: Their Challenges and Successes with Jen Esten and Jon Waage

Loons: Their Challenges and Successes with Jen Esten and Jon Waage

Using observations and photographs from 16 years of watching the same pair of Loons and their offspring on Pleasant Lake, Jen Esten and Jon Waage will offer insights into their biology and factors that influence their success. Jen Esten has been photographing the Loons on Pleasant Lake since 2007. Jon Waage joined her in 2018 and together they write “The Nature of Pleasant Lake” e-newsletter for the Pleasant Lake Protective Association. Jon is an Emeritus Professor of Biology from Brown University. Thanks to successful efforts by the Loon Preservation Committee and volunteers throughout the state, the Common Loon population has increased but remains on the NH Fish and Game Threatened Species list.

This program is free and open to the public but registration is required. Please visit www.lakesunapee.org to register or use this link: https://www.lakesunapee.org/loons-2.
