In May, Donald Trump attacked New Mexico’s Gov. Susana Martinez as ineffective, saying “she’s not doing her job,” but in a phone interview with the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper on Thursday, Trump said he’d like to have her endorsement, adding, “I respect her. I have always liked her.”
New Mexicans vote in that state’s primary on Tuesday, and Trump is looking to shore up his support. At the same time, the state is seeing a surge in early voting among Democrats.
