Let's just get this cat out of the bag right away...I'm a 30-year-old intern.
I decided to take the leap back into school last year and I'm half way through my Masters degree in Journalism, hence, my flashback to summer internship-hood. I must admit, I pretty much nailed it when I applied for an internship with Word of Mouth. I can't imagine a better experience.
I was greeted on my first day back in May by the warm and velvety personality of none other than Ms. Virginia Prescott, who accompanied me on the elevator up to the sixth floor. I recognized her from the website but rather than introduce myself as the aforementioned 30-year-old intern ("Hello, I'm Shannon. I would love to be like you someday."), I decided to play it cool and sheepishly followed her into the WoM cubicle corral.
I'm honestly not one to fawn, but ever since I listened to the show from the production studio that first day and heard her in action, I knew that I wanted to soak up as much of the VP mystique as I possibly could. Composure, professionalism, grace and style - not to mention an ability to navigate radio as though she were a rhythmic gymnast, trolling ribbons and jumping through hoops. Impressive to say the least.
Oh yeah, she's also been known to rock a Vespa from time to time. So, there's that.
