A 10-screen movie theater is set to move into a vacant lot at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester as early as next year. For the past eight years, the state's largest city has not had a single movie theater within its borders.
The new location used to be the home to Lowe's Home Improvement Store. According to The Union Leader, the space has been leased by Chunky's Cinema Pub, which has locations in Nashua and Pelham as well as Haverhill, Mass.
The city's only movie theater, Regal 9 Cinema off South Willow Street, shut it doors in September 2008, leaving Cinemagic in Hooksett as the closest theater to Manchester.
The new theater will offer a pub-style menu with beer, wine and cocktails. Similar to its other locations, the Manchester Chunky's is also expected to host comedy shows as well as birthday parties and corporate events.
The theater is expected to hire an estimated 150 people.
