Hooksett School Board Meeting With Pinkerton Academy

The Hooksett School Board and Pinkerton Academy’s board of trustees may vote tonight on a ten-year deal that would send most of its students to Pinkerton.

Hooksett and Pinkerton officials have been in talks since Hooksett’s school board pulled the plug on the arrangement that had sent the town’s students to Manchester for about 100 years. At issue were larger class sizes that followed budget cuts.

All the parties required for Hooksett and Pinkerton to finalize a deal will meet tonight. The proposal on the table would require Hooksett to send at least seventy-five freshmen to Pinkerton every year for four years. After that, 90% of Hooksett’s high-schoolers would attend Pinkerton.

Earlier this summer, Hooksett reached a new deal with Manchester that no longer requires a minimum number of students. Right now, Hooksett has less formal sending arrangements with Bow and Londonderry high schools and may soon have one with Pembroke.
