Authorities say a 19-year-old University of New Hampshire student missing for days is dead, and a man has been charged with second-degree murder.

Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott disappeared after she made plans to visit friends in Dover on Tuesday.

Assistant Attorney General James Vara said Saturday that authorities believe she is dead but have not found her body. Her car was found in a parking lot on campus in Durham.

Vara says 29-year-old Seth Mazzaglia of Dover has been arrested. He's in custody and authorities didn't know whether he had a lawyer. Vara didn't say whether Mazzaglia knew Marriott or what led to his arrest.

Marriott was a marine biology major who lived with her aunt in Chester. She was a 2011 graduate of Westborough High School in Massachusetts.
