The Kittery Community Market proudly announces that it will host "Vouchers for Veterans" every Sunday in September from 10 am to 2 pm.

Every veteran and active duty service member will receive $20 in vouchers for food and select agricultural items. To claim your vouchers, bring your military ID and proof of Maine or New Hampshire residency to the Vouchers for Veterans booth located at the center entrance.

This special program fosters collaboration between local businesses, farms, and the veteran community, designed to promote local economic growth while extending gratitude to those who have served our nation.

Holderness, NH – This unforgettable guided tour has something new to delight everyone.

Learn about the natural history of Squam Lake, look for majestic Bald Eagles, and listen for the haunting call of Common Loons. Hear about the people who have lived on its rocky shores surrounded by scenic mountains for over 5,000 years. Cruise on this pristine lake where nature reigns.

All Squam Lake Cruises are 90 minutes in length on canopied pontoon boats. Binoculars are available for viewing or bring your own. Cruises depart on Route 113 across from the Science Center. Squam Lake Cruises are not recommended for children under age 5. Advance reservations required by purchasing tickets at nhnature.org.

In this workshop, participants will experiment with various collage techniques and learn how to use paper as a 2D medium. Our instructor, Ember Nevins, whose work is on display in Portsmouth Historical Society’s "Contemporary Currents" exhibition, will give a collage demo, as well as a brief presentation of notable collage artists for general inspiration. The demo and presentation will then be followed by a work session, during which Ember will support participants and give valuable feedback as they work on their own collage.

About the Artist: Ember Nevins is fascinated with textures, fragments, and modules, and her work seeks to explore the connections between nature and body. She views her work as an extension of her mind, spirit, and soul – fluctuating with the natural and organic patterns of life. Her process can be described by two actions: searching and building. She looks at her works in process as puzzles that don’t have defined pieces – images that come to life slowly through the amalgamation of fragments and displaced elements. It’s a meditative process, where she can allow herself to be guided by her materials and trust in the final result.

We will be presenting the final feature film chapter of Downton Abbey when it debuts on Fri Sept 12. It will play for an unprecedented 3 weeks on our giant screen. We are turning it into a 3-week Downton Abbey Monadnock Celebration with period dress contests, Downton Martinis, participating restaurants with special menus, surprise guests, Downton merch raffles, and more.

The Arts Council of Tamworth will be presenting Belonging and Othering, an exciting new stage production from the beheard.world artistic troupe, featuring a collaboration of nine dancers/choreographers, three poets and two filmmakers who have created a piece where “belonging” and “othering” intersect, opening a window into underlying parts of tribalism and bias that keep us divided.

The multi-media performance piece will screen seven local storytellers who have experienced being “othered.” The storytellers focus on racism, gender bias, immigration prejudice and LGBTQ issues. As each story is told, on a large 20’x20′ screen, dancers will perform solos to eight stories.

The performance will be held on Sunday, September 14th beginning at 7 PM. It will be staged at the Public House on Page Hill Pavilion, and tickets are by suggested donation.

Prior to the performance of Belonging and Othering, on September 10th at 6 PM, the Arts Council of Tamworth will host a free film screening of the documentary Invisible Imprints, held at the Cook Memorial Library.

This feature-length documentary follows the dancers from beheard.world as they travel from Jackson, MS up the Great Migration Trail to Chicago, performing an original piece called Invisible Imprints of Racism. At each showing they facilitate talkbacks with audiences, exploring and confronting issues of race. As these dramatic experiences unfold on the tour, the film captures the performers’ own struggles with identity and race, shedding light on the deeper truths of racial divisions from diverse perspectives.
