67th Annual Art in the Park sponsored by the Monadnock Area Artists Association

On Labor Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday August 30 & 31, 10 am – 4 pm both days, the Monadnock Area Artists Association (MAAA) is holding their 67th Annual Art in the Park at Ashuelot River Park, West Street, Keene, NH. This two day outdoor show and sale features more than 75 artists from around the New England area representing a wide variety of styles and media. Other highlights include an art raffle to support the MAAA scholarship fund, frozen treats by Frisky Cow Gelato, and live music by Randy McGravey, New England guitarist and singer, and from 1 – 2:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Free admission and parking, handicap accessible. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!

The use of oils or watercolors demands totally different approaches when constructing a painting. Each medium has unique attributes for rendering imagery and light. This exhibit features the oils of Gil Perry and the watercolors of Robert O'Brien, showing their masterful expertise in their chosen media.

The Edge Ensemble Theatre Company is celebrating its 35th anniversary year by reprising the first show that Founding Artistic Director Kim Dupuis directed for The Edge way back in its first season in 1990–91. Audiences are invited to revisit the wildly popular production of Laughing Wild by Christopher Durang. An added interest is that Scot Tolman will be again performing the role he originally created. His co-star this time around will be Melanie Plenda-Washer.
The play delves into the relationship between a man and a woman who encounter each other in the tuna fish aisle of a supermarket and reveal, hilariously, their own peculiar brands of negativity. It debuted in an off-Broadway production in 1987 with Christopher Durang, who also appeared in the Los Angeles production.
Performances are August 22-23 and 28-30 at 7:30 PM and August 24 and 31 at 2 PM, at The Edge Theater. Tickets are $20 general admission, $18 for seniors and students, and must be purchased at the door by cash or check. No credit cards at this time. Johannes BRAHMS String Sextet No. 2 in G and Richard STRAUSS Sextet from ‘Capriccio’

Brahms's G Major Sextet stands as a pinnacle of his chamber music output, universally admired for its emotional depth, haunting mysterious beauty and an unrivaled rich string sonority. The work is tinged with a bittersweet tone, partly inspired by Brahms' failed romance with Agathe von Siebold, whose name is encoded in the first movement with the notes A­G-A-H-E.

The North Country Chamber Players have adopted a “Pay-What-You-Wish” ticket pricing for concerts. Seating is limited, so attendees are asked to make free online reservations. The recommended ticket price is $25, payable at the door, but there is no minimum ticket price required for entry.
