Performing Godspell, created by Carnegie Mellon undergrad John Michael Tebelak to promote love, compassion and hope in turbulent times. This fun, joyous and uplifting one-of-a-kind musical has been an enduring classic ever since producer Edgar Lansbury opened it in NYC in 1971. Taken mostly from the Gospel of St. Matthew, with new songs composed by Stephen Shwartz (of “Wicked” fame) this heart-felt show interweaves the story of Jesus and his followers from baptism to resurrection with re-imagined hymns, beautifully harmonized songs and jubilant musical numbers. It’s an inspiring celebration of light triumphing over darkness--serving as a hope-filled reminder that a small group of people can change the world.
