New Hampshire ranks 43rd in the nation for Gross Domestic Product growth in 2012, according to data released Thursday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
GDP grew only .5 percent in 2012 – that’s down from 2.2 percent growth the year before. That means New Hampshire lags behind VT, MA and RI – and the national average.
Dennis Delay at the Center for Public Policy Studies says "New Hampshire usually leads the rest of the New England states out of the recession, and many times has led the rest of the country in terms of job growth and economic growth. We’re not seeing that this time around."
Delay says states with natural gas resources like Texas and Tennessee are watching their GDPs grow fastest, while New England – and New Hampshire – trail behind.
