New Hampshire fourth- and eighth-grade students continue to rank among the nation’s best in math and reading.
That’s based on their performance on the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as the Nation’s Report Card.
This year’s results were releasedThursday.
Fifty-nine percent of the state’s fourth-graders and 47 percent of eighth-graders scored proficient or better in math; that’s compared to 42 percent of fourth-graders and 35 percent of eighth-graders nationally.
In reading, 45 percent of New Hampshire’s fourth-graders and 44 percent of eighth-graders were proficient or better, again exceeding the national proficiency rates.
The test is given every two years to a sampling of fourth- and eighth-graders across the country.
