Save the date for Averill House Vineyard's exclusive Adopt-A-Vine Member Wine Master 2025 Holiday Event!

When: Friday, October 24th, 2025 from 6pm-8pm.

The holiday season is upon us and we can taste it, and what better way to get the season started than chatting up Averill House Vineyard Owners along with Vintner Bob Waite.

We will taste select wines that pair well with traditional holiday dishes and give you some ideas for your own holiday meals. The wines will be accompanied by charcuterie boards, appetizers, desserts and, of course, Bob's fascinating wine stories.

A private tour of the production room and wine cellar will be held at 6:15 and 7:15pm. During the tour you'll have the opportunity to venture into the wine cellar and get a sneak peek taste from one of the aged wine barrels of a soon to be released wine.

Holderness, NH – Squam Lakes Natural Science Center celebrates the start of the 2025 public trail season on opening day, Thursday, May 1. Regular hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last trail admission at 3:30 p.m.)

For nearly 60 years, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has been a favorite New England family destination, bringing joy, connection, wonder, and discovery to generations of visitors through live animal exhibits, natural science education programs, guided Squam Lake Cruises and the vibrant charm of Kirkwood Gardens. The Science Center is Certified Sensory Inclusive by KultureCity. The 3/4 mile live animal exhibit trail features coyote, fisher, red fox, bobcat, black bear, mountain lion, river otters, white-tailed deer, various owls and raptors, and more. Plan at least two and a half hours to walk the animal exhibit trail, which meanders through open meadows, mature forests, and marsh boardwalks on a packed gravel path.

Trail rates for 2025 are $28 for adults; $26 for seniors (age 65+); $22 for youth (ages 3-15); free for children 2 and under and Science Center members.

Strange Kin

Strange Kin is a swarm of tiny critters (real and faux) that playfully inspect and reimagine the miniature marvels that live among us. The five artists on view embrace their affection and comfort in entomology, using arthropods as their muses and collaborators. Each artist explores how creatures, ranging from crickets to bees, can work within an artistic practice rather than merely being the inspiration for it. Collectively, the works on view braid pure aesthetic joy with stinging commentary on environmental issues, species decline, and conservation.

Join us for Owl-O-Ween to celebrate all things owl! Meet live owls at Up Close to Animals presentations throughout the day. See the animals along the live animal exhibit trail enjoying a variety of pumpkin treats. Come in your favorite costume. Jeffrey Augustine Songco
Society of 23’s Conservatory
January 2 – March 7, 2025

Society of 23’s Conservatory is an immersive, site-specific installation that combines photography, video, and sculpture in a multisensory experience. Jeffrey Augustine Songco captures the look and feel of a conservatory meets greenhouse during the sun-drenched days of summer, as he invites visitors to explore themes such as friendship, perfection, non-native, and exoticism. The greenhouse becomes a backdrop to Songco's camp exploration of a complicated relationship between his identity as an American of Filipino ethnicity and the colonial American behavior of conspicuously collecting “exotic” plants during the US rule over the Philippines from 1898-1946. Through the scope of florals and bouquet arrangements, Songco "plants" visual clues and non-verbal messages throughout the space, inviting viewers to reflect on their own personal and cultural origin stories and consider the constructs we create and dismantle for ourselves.

For the last fifteen years, Songco has continued to make artwork based on the Society of 23 — a fictional brotherhood of 23 mysterious gentlemen all portrayed by the artist himself. His artwork examines the construction of his personal identities and their relationships to the actual society in which he exists.
