On Saturday, October 25, 1:00 p.m., the Rindge open mic Music at the Museum will stage the final event of its 2025 season at the Meeting House, 6 Payson Hill Road, Rindge, NH. October’s featured musician is saxophonist Gary Barna. A $5.00 donation at the door benefits the Historical Society’s Museum. Desserts, light lunch refreshments, and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Featured performer Gary Barna skillfully delivers a diverse repertoire of American songbook classics, movie and show tunes, jazz, and original compositions on his alto sax. His precise playing ranges from mellow to raw while always giving a modern take on well-known scores.
Barna is the product of Berklee College of Music. He left the music scene for a career in industry. “I promised myself that after retiring I would return to music.” Barna says early retirement and a move to the Monadnock Region allowed him to keep his promise. He now has the time and space to expand his technique and experiment with new sounds. He and his wife live in Rindge. (www.garybarna.com)
According to Karla MacLeod, President, Rindge Historical Society, “All of us involved in Music at the Museum thank the many people who attended and musicians who performed this season. The community that came together each month generously supported the Historical Society’s Museum and its outreach.”
Ray Sierkierski who coordinates the open mic performers and hosts the event added, “We are taking a break after the October open mic to prepare for an even stronger 2026 season.” The next season of Music at the Museum will begin on Saturday, March 28 and run through October 2026. Sierkierski has lined up many featured performers for next year including Beverly Rush, Volkert Volkersz, Chuck Hall, Paul Lauria, Bob Goodwin, David Lister and more.
Musicians, poets, and spoken word artists of all ages are encouraged to take part in the final open mic of the season. Anyone interested in performing should email Siekierski at nooniekirk52@gmail.com. Performers are allowed up to ten minutes or two selections, whichever comes first.
Music at the Museum is a monthly event typically held on the last Saturday of the month, March through October, at either the Rindge Meeting House or outdoors at the Rindge Historical Society, depending on the weather. This year an extra February event was held at Cathedral of the Pines. Each open mic includes a featured musical performance and plenty of local talent to round out the afternoon.
