Star Island’s annual fundraiser, “Starry Night,” will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023 in downtown Portsmouth. The in-person event is the largest fundraising effort for the nonprofit organization. The evening will feature celebrated Boston-based singer-songwriter Diane Taraz, whose latest book is, Candace: Imagining the Life of a Woman Enslaved in 18th-Century New England, based on a mother and daughter who spent their lives on Star Island. For Starry Night, she will present “Songs of the Revolution,” a fitting program for Veterans’ Day. Starry Night will also include live music by David Shapiro, a raffle, and refreshments. It will be held at Portsmouth Historical Society, 10 Middle Street, in Portsmouth from 5-7:30pm.
