Today, gay couples can legally marry in 19 countries and 36 U.S. states. Yet, as gay rights both here and abroad expand, many countries, like Uganda, Nigeria and Russia, have become more oppressive for sexual minorites.
As a result, more and more LGBT people are coming to the U.S. to escape persecution.
