On his first stop in a weeklong trip, President Barack Obama said the U.S. and China can work together, and that “one country’s prosperity doesn’t have to come at the expense of the other.”
Today, Obama announced that the U.S. and China would start granting visas to each other’s citizens that will be valid for up to 10 years.
The president, who is in Beijing for a high-level summit, also is pursuing a long-delayed trade pact with 11 other countries, excluding China.
NPR’s Anthony Kuhn is covering the president’s trip, and joins Here & Now’s Robin Young from Beijing with details.
