Laconia Motorcycle Week Turns 90

The 90th Annual Laconia Motorcycle Week starts this Friday and runs through next Sunday. The event attracts riders from all across the U.S.

Despite the rain forecasted for this weekend, Motorcycle Week is still expected to draw upwards of 300,000 riders to Laconia. At 90 years old, it’s one of the oldest continuous motorcycle rallies in North America. During the week, riders can take tours around the state, including a state-wide farm tour. Rally coordinator Charlie St. Clair says the farm tour offers something new for out-of-state riders.

“People from Iowa, or Pennsylvania, or New York City can go to a farm in N.H., see how they make…maybe it’s a creamery, they make cream and ice cream. We’ve never done anything like that before; I think that’s really a cool thing, and it’s a testament of the ideas that people come up with to really give our visitors something to do.”

Earlier this week, the N.H. State Police canceled a sobriety checkpoint in Holderness that was to coincide with Motorcycle Week, but state police could not be reached for comment on the cancellation.
