WORLD-RENOWNED POETS READ IN HARRISVILLE, NH
Katie Farris and Ilya Kaminsky
SUNDAY APRIL 30, 2023 4:30PM
The Loom celebrates its 4th year of bringing today’s best poets to the charming mill town of Harrisville NH, welcoming internationally known poets Katie Farris and Ilya Kaminsky to read and discuss their latest works.
Katie Farris is the award-winning author of A Net to Catch My Body in its Weaving, an account of finding the “not hell” in the midst of cancer. She will read from her latest book of poems, Standing in the Forest of Being Alive.
“Farris’s language is delicious, maddening and mythic, dreamlike, sarcastic, witty...tales come alive as myths, as dreams.”
— American Book Review
Ilya Kaminsky was named one of "12 Artists Who Changed the World" by the BBC. Born in the former Soviet city of Odessa in Ukraine, Kaminsky lost most of his hearing as a child and is best known for his book Deaf Republic. The work was also the basis of a remarkable multimedia collaboration with The New Yorker magazine.
Deaf Republic is conscience, terror, silence, rage, made to coexist moments of tenderness, piercing beauty, empathic lyricism.”
— Tracy K. Smith
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear and connect with these renowned poets in the intimate setting of the beautifully restored Chesham and Harrisville Community Church at 4:30PM on Sunday, April 30th.
