John Doelman • Quetico Connection Book Reading / Presentation

John Doelman • Quetico Connection Book Reading / Presentation

We invite you to an intimate presentation of John Doelman's new book, “Quetico Connection”. He brings the personal experience of a lifetime of wilderness canoe tripping to you with a thorough backstory, introspective poetry and connecting photography.

Beauty and perfection abound in the symmetry of pristine wilderness. Quetico Connection uses that catalyst in discovering the relationship that innately lives within all of nature. The book is a threaded collection of personal, yet gently accessible, poems and photos which began on a two week solo canoe trip into the million plus acres of canoe wilderness that is Quetico Provincial Park in NW Ontario.

If you have been there, or to any Canadian Shield protected areas, you will be able to personally relate to many of the poems/photos. If you haven't, you will either want to go or will look for ways to create a similar experience in your own life. In either case, it promises to conjure up many new feelings for everyone who picks it up.

John Doelman's poetry is deeply personal and evocative. He carries you with him, whether at that split second of inspiration, or during the slowing down of twilight. To John, moments of life are snapshots of so much more. He is a master of expressing that detail. John now a full-time New Hampshire resident, has shared his poetry in numerous slams and readings in Florida, as well as many local venues in New Hampshire. His new book, “Quetico Connection,” brings the intimacy of the wilderness to the reader, via his favorite place, Quetico Provincial Park.

The audio-video presentation here will blend vivid photography, stills and videos, with a little history of place, and a compelling narrative interspersed with poetry from the book and a few that promise a next edition. It is sure to be a memorable event. There will be a book signing after.
