Jammy Roots Rock

The Ben Kogan Band jammy roots rock with jazz and bluegrass sensibilities. Known for heartfelt lyrics and high-energy shows, Ben and his band have been lighting up local stages with original tunes and rich harmonies that speak to Vermont’s spirit and storytelling tradition since 2015.

Ben Kogan graduated from the University of Miami for Jazz Bass. He briefly lived in Boston for 2 years where he performed with musicians that have become household names (Rubblebucket, Lake Street Dive, and David Wax Museum, Billy Wylder, Hey Mama) Following that he spent 12 years in NYC and Brooklyn, and recently moved to Woodstock, VT in 2021 with his wife and son.

While Kogan is a trained jazz bass player he has picked up acoustic guitar, piano, and songwriting along the way. In fact, he spent a year or so studying bluegrass guitar with bluegrass legend Michael Daves. Ben Kogan is also one of the co-organizers of Imagine Zero and Founder of Reusable Solutions. He currently lives in Barnard, VT.

The band is a collective of talented upper valley musicians. This show features Justin Park on Mandolin/Bass/Guitar/Vocals and Mark Burds Guitar/Bass/Vocals.
