Pope Greeted By Thousands At White House

Pope Francis’ first ever visit to the United States is, of course, unlike most people’s first visits. He was greeted by President Obama as well as more than 11,000 spectators on the South Lawn of the White House Wednesday morning.

NPR White House correspondent Scott Horsley attended the welcome ceremony and joins Here & Now’s Robin Young to talk about the political and historical context of the pope’s visit.
