The state Supreme Court has ruled against a retired police officer who argued he had the right to work part-time for several towns while collecting a pension.
After retiring as a Plaistow police officer in November of 2011, Scott Anderson continued to work in a part-time capacity for Plaistow, Atkinson and Hampstead.
Anderson argued that because state law allowed for retired employees to work up to 32 hours for a municipality, he could do so for several towns at the same time.
Anderson lost his case in Merrimack County Superior Court and appealed to the state’s highest court.
In its ruling issued Tuesday, the Supreme Court disagreed, stating that Anderson had no right to work for more than one employer while collecting his pension.
