Smith Henderson's Debut Novel 'Fourth Of July Creek'

Smith Henderson made a splash in 2014 with “Fourth of July Creek.” The debut novel made a number of critics’ best books lists including The New York Times’ “100 Notable Books of 2014″ and is now being published in paperback.

“Fourth of July Creek” is set in Henderson’s native Montana and centers around a social worker named Pete. Pete’s personal life is falling apart as he gets caught up in the life of one of his professional charges: the son of a militant survivalist who’s waiting for the end times.

Here & Now’s Robin Young first spoke to Smith Henderson in July 2014. Today we revisit that conversation.
