Horror author Chuck Wendig, The Staircase in the Woods

Horror author Chuck Wendig, The Staircase in the Woods

Chuck Wendig returns to Gibson's Bookstore with his newest horror novel, The Staircase in the Woods, which has a uniquely New Hampshire connection!

A group of friends investigates the mystery of a strange staircase in the woods in this mesmerizing horror novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Accidents.

Five high school friends are bonded by an oath to protect one another no matter what.

Then, on a camping trip in the middle of the forest, they find something extraordinary: a mysterious staircase to nowhere.

One friend walks up—and never comes back down. Then the staircase disappears.

Twenty years later, the staircase has reappeared. Now the group returns to find the lost boy—and what lies beyond the staircase in the woods. . . .

And now for the New Hampshire connection: A major plot point of this book involves a stone staircase in the woods of New Hampshire, and in fact, is based on the very real stone staircase in the Madame Sherri Forest in West Chesterfield, NH, which Chuck visited in September 2023 after his event for Black River Orchard at Gibson's. We know this is true because not only has he said it publicly, but we are IN THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS OF THE BOOK. This is, of course, incredibly exciting.
