Artist Conversation: Renate Aller and Arezoo Moseni

Artist Conversation: Renate Aller and Arezoo Moseni

Artists Renate Aller and Arezoo Moseni discuss The Space Between Memory and Expectation, Aller’s exhibit of large-format photographs and a site-specific installation. BMAC Director of Exhibitions Sarah Freeman curated the exhibition.

Moseni is a Senior Art Librarian at the New York Public Library and curated a previous exhibition of Aller’s work. “During the pandemic, Arezoo founded an online studio visit group that has been a life-saver and created a very close artist community, with many artists having collaborated and exchanged thoughts as well as work,” Aller said. “Her artist interviews and conversations are the most enriching. I am very fond of her and glad to know her.”

Born in Germany, Renate Aller lives and works in New York. “The Space Between Memory and Expectation” and “side walk 6′ apart in NYC” are her most recent projects. “Mountain Interval,” “Ocean | Desert,” “dicotyledon,” and “Oceanscapes – One View – Ten Years” support the artist’s investigation into the relationship between Romanticism, memory and landscape in the context of our current socio-political awareness. Her works are in the collections of corporate institutions, private collectors and museums, including Lannan Foundation, National Gallery of Art, Yale University Art Gallery, Parrish Art Museum, and Musée des Beaux-Arts in Le Locle, Switzerland.

Arezoo Moseni is an artist and community cultivator. She has exhibited her work in many solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad, and her work is in numerous private and public collections. She has spearheaded countless public dialogues and panel discussions. She received a B.F.A. at Utah State University, an M.A. and M.F.A. at the University of New Mexico, and an M.L.I.S. at Pratt Institute.

This is an in-person event.
