The Life And Legacy of Former President George H. W. Bush

U.S. Navy Specialist 3rd Class Micah P. Blechner

Former President George H. W. Bush died this past weekend at age 94. We talk with those who knew and worked with him, and political analysts, about his life, his achievements, and his impact on American politics.

GUESTS:

  • Wayne Lesperance - NEC Vice President of Academic Affairs and Political Science professor.
  • Joel Maiola - Former chief of staff for Judd Gregg, drove Bush around during the first Presidential campaign.
  • Tom Rath - Republican strategist who initially opposed Bush, having worked on behalf of rival Bob Dole in the 1988 first-in-the-nation presidential primary. In 1990, Bush nominated Rath’s close friend, David Souter, to the U.S. Supreme Court. In the 2000 campaign, Rath worked for Bush’s son, future President George W. Bush.

We'll also hear from Charlie Bass, who was a Republican state representative in NH and crossed paths with Bush many times throughout his career.
