When Kate McNally was emceeing a Dar Williams show at the former Tupelo Music Hall in White River Junction to air on NHPR in 2012, she missed the step off the stage and landed with a thud.

Dar Williams didn’t miss a beat.

“That was a perfect TEN,” Williams announced to the audience.

Kate McNally / The Folk Show

Chuck Hall began writing and performing his own songs while living in a cabin on Temple Mountain in New Hampshire after studying classical guitar at Keene State College.

His songs have been recorded and performed by many artists, including Susie Burke, Dean Stevens, and the great Jack Hardy.

Bennett and Perkins are a singer-songwriter duo from New Hampshire's North Country with two CDs under their belts and a new one in process.

They stopped by The Folk Show for a Sunday preview of an upcoming benefit for the Way Station and MWV Supports Recovery in North Conway on Jan. 25 with Taylor Whiteside.

Emma's Revolution is out with their newest album, Revolution Now.

It's been called "vital" and "relevant," and the band is described as, "Beauty, power and ferocity all mixed together with love and hope."

Mark Erelli performed in studio for NHPR's The Folk Show ahead of his show at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord.

His song "By Degrees" featured all star musicians Rosanne Cash, Josh Ritter, Sheryl Crow, Anais Mitchell, Jefferson Hamer and Lori McKenne, and it was nominated for the American Industry's Best Song of the Year Award.

John Prine took the top prize for Summer's End from his Tree of Forgiveness album. 

Mile Twelve played an in-studio performance of songs from their new album, "City on a Hill." It is—as the band members say during this studio session—a work of contemporary themes cast against a traditional bluegrass canvas.

Live In Studio: Rise!

The bluegrass fusion sextet Rise! recently joined us to perform live in Studio D. Listen to their performance here, and check out the band's Facebook page for more photos of the band in studio.

Singer-songwriter Hayley Reardon recently joined us in the NHPR studios to play some tracks from her new album, Wayfindings. At only seventeen years old, Reardon has already shared the stage with such folk icons as Peter Yarrow & Tom Rush. She has been featured on WBUR Boston & hails from Marblehead, MA.

Meg Hutchinson stopped by to play some tunes from her latest album, Beyond That.

Since the release of her Red House Records debut Come Up Full in 2008, she has won high praise for her songwriting and has been featured on NPR Music and the syndicated show Mountain Stage. Publications like The Winnipeg Free Press have compared her songwriting with that of veterans Mary Chapin Carpenter and Joni Mitchell. Meg grew up in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts.

Kate's in-studio guests on Sunday were Keith Murphy, Randy Miller, Lydia ievins and Andrea Larson.

They are all appearing at the Northern Roots Festival in Brattleboro on January 25th, in addition to many other local performances.
