It seems bears enjoy a good view just like any other visitor to the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

A photo snapped June 29 by an employee at the Omni Mount Washington Resort shows a black bear holding onto a rail on the veranda and looking out. The photo was taken around 5 a.m. and the employee, Sam Geesaman, said he had only wanted to get a photo of the sunrise.

Instead, he caught the bear as it climbed stairs in search of a trash can. The bear moved on after Gessaman loudly clapped and stomped.

We take a look back 75 years ago to July 1, 1944, when representatives from 44 nations convened to devise a post-World War II monetary system.

The location?

The plush Mt. Washington Hotel at Bretton Woods,  where  delegates could work, distraction-free, to come up with a plan that would ensure post-war prosperity through economic co-operation. The United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference, known as the Bretton woods conference, would result in the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

On the heels of this winter's record-breaking cold comes record-breaking warmth.

Temperatures are previewing spring in New Hampshire this week, with forecast highs peaking in the upper 60s for parts of the state Wednesday.

Mount Washington had the warmest Feb. 20 on record Tuesday, notching a 41-degree high at the summit.

The peak's all-time February high is 43, with an all-time winter high of 48. The summit Observatory says on Twitter those records might fall this week, too.
