State Employees' Union Head Says Group May Not Endorse in 2020 N.H. Primary

The New Hampshire state employees' union says they may not endorse a presidential candidate in the 2020 primary race.

The State Employees Association held a press conference Friday with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

They called on Governor Chris Sununu to approve a 4 percent wage increase as part of a new contract, amid stalled negotiations.

The SEA endorsed Sanders in the Democratic primary four years ago, but union president Rich Gulla said that race was different.

"I think last time it was a binary race, and it was clear that he was a candidate that was supporting a $15-wage, where the other candidate was not,” Gulla said.

This time, Gulla says he doesn't know yet whether the union's members will choose to endorse a candidate.
