Special Presentation: Remembering Cokie Roberts

Writers On a New England Stage - Replay of 2008 Conversation with Cokie Roberts to Air Thursday, September 19.

Public media lost one of its most treasured voices this week with the passing of longtime NPR journalist Cokie Roberts. One of the ‘founding mothers’ of NPR, Cokie blazed a trail for other female journalists at the network and beyond. She spent decades covering Washington politics, but is also known as a bestselling author of six books.

Roberts died Tuesday from complications of breast cancer. Since then, we have heard from many NHPR listeners about their high regard for Cokie’s reporting and how much she’ll be missed.

Cokie Roberts came to New Hampshire in April 2008 as a guest of Writers On a New England Stage – a partnership of The Music Hall and New Hampshire Public Radio.

In conversation with NHPR’s Laura Knoy, Cokie discussed her book “Ladies of Liberty”, bringing to life extraordinary women like Abigail Adams and Martha Jefferson – women who played a pioneering role in U.S. public life during the early days of our nation’s history.

Join us at nine on Thursday for a replay of this memorable conversation.

[NOTE: The Fresh Air replay will not air at this time, in order to make way for this special program.]
