THE BRETTON WOODS IV CONVOCATION: LIVE FREE & PROSPER
Tuesday September 29 through Tuesday October 6 Omni Mount Washington Resort. The convocation begins in Bretton Woods and will journey to North Conway, Gorham/Berlin, Colebrook, Lancaster, Littleton, and Franconia, visiting their distinctive sites and holding community forums that address the fortunes of the North Country. The convocation returns to the Mt. Washington Hotel on Oct. 6th. The closing ceremonies will include the world premier of folk singer Joanne Shenandoah’s song “One World” and the performance of the anthem, “Finlandia: This Is My Song, O God of All the Nations”. North Country choirs, choruses, orchestras, bands, and citizens are invited to offer their music and voices. NH HUMANITIES PROGRAM: FAITH & FANTASTIC FICTION, BETHLEHEM
Thursday October 1 6:00 PM Bethlehem Public Library, 2245 Main Street. Humanities scholar Maren Tirabassi will lead the discussion on the connection between fiction and the spiritual imagination. She will touch on classics and bestsellers: The Hobbit, Hunger Games, Chronicles of Narnia, Neverland, Wonderland, the Long Earth, as well as the religious dimensions of Twilight, Golden Compass and The Graveyard Book. Participants of all ages are invited to share their reflections and favorite books. The library received a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council to sponsor this program.
