We are happy to announce the promotion of Rebecca Lavoie, formerly Senior Producer on NHPR’s mid-day show Word of Mouth, to the newly created position of Digital Director.
As the Senior Producer for Word of Mouth, Lavoie directed the program’s digital media presence, and produced countless stories on media and new technology. As a result, Word of Mouth became the station’s hub for innovation. As Digital Director, she will apply that aptitude to the entire station assuring that NHPR uses digital tools and platforms to enhance news coverage, reach a broad range of news consumers, deepen audience engagement and add value to all of NHPR’s programming and membership programs.
Betsy Gardella, NHPR President and CEO, made the announcement following an extensive national search:

In 2010, Lavoie made a transition to radio from her career as a freelance writer and non-profit leader. The co-author of three nonfiction true crime books, she has written countless articles for local and national print and online publications. As head of NHPR’s Digital Department she will oversee website, social media and application development, direct creation of content for digital platforms, and manage a range of online listener engagement projects.
